Between Two Worlds

A person standing between two contrasting worlds, representing a Life transition between the familiar past and an unknown future.

There is a strange place in every Life transition where Your old Life no longer fits You, and the new Life You are creating does not fully exist yet.

You are somewhere between two worlds.

The old world is familiar. You know how it works. It might be the type of love relationship You have always known, the predictable W-2 job, the way You relate to Your family, Your friendships, or simply the expectations You grew up with about how Life is supposed to look.

Then something triggers Your awareness, You change.

You start questioning what You actually want instead of simply following what You have learned from society, family, relationships, or the people around You.

Maybe You want a completely different kind of love relationship. Maybe You want to build Your own business instead of relying on a predictable paycheck. Your expectations of friendships and family change. You want more freedom, deeper connections, new experiences, and a Life that actually feels like Yours.

And suddenly, everything can feel unstable.

The old people might no longer fit, while You have not met Your people yet. The old relationship feels familiar, while the kind of love You want is still unknown. The old job offers certainty, while the freedom You are building has not become financially stable yet.

You can clearly see where You want to go, and You are not there yet.

That space can feel lonely, uncertain, and scary. It can even make You question whether You are on the right path.

It reminds me of the movie Inside Out. Without spoiling too much, the little girl Riley’s old personality islands begin to collapse. For a while, Her entire inner world seems to be falling apart, and it feels like there is no hope. After a whole adventure of experiences, a new and more complex world slowly begins to form.

Transformation can feel similar.

The Life that was built around the old version of You may no longer fit who You are becoming. And rebuilding does not happen overnight.

So be patient with Yourself and with the Life You are creating.

Do not return to something simply because it is familiar. Do not fill empty spaces simply because being between two worlds feels lonely. At the same time, do not wait for what comes next.

Meet new people. Build new relationships. Explore. Take opportunities. Dare to make mistakes. Create the work You want. Discover what actually fits You now.

And through all of it, do not forget to appreciate and be grateful for the Life You have today and the courageous steps You took to change!

The reward for moving through the uncertainty is looking around one day and realizing:

This is my Life - not the Life I thought was “socially right.” The Life I chose and created for myself.
