Stop Consuming. Start Creating.

Personal growth has been a huge part of my Life since leaving my 13-year relationship in 2020.
I read books, listened to podcasts, studied whatever topic caught my attention, and reflected a lot. All of this helped me understand myself better and see Life from different perspectives.
Yet I still wasn’t happy. I still wasn’t where I wanted to be despite all that input.
One of my coaches asked a question that honestly scared me:
Who would You be if You stopped learning?
No books. No podcasts. No constantly searching for the next insight.
I froze.
Fear crept through my body, my throat tightened, and my thoughts were, “I don’t know who I would be.”
Another client responded completely differently:
“That sounds peaceful.”
His answer surprised me. I truly couldn’t imagine a Life without personal growth. My nervous system was so used to studying every day, starting back in school. After graduating, I attended night school during my apprenticeship to qualify for a bachelor’s program. When finished, without a break I did my bachelor’s degree while working full-time for over seven years.
Then my coach asked Him what He would do instead.
He said He would spend more time creating value for others. After years of learning and gaining experience, He already had so much knowledge. Instead of constantly taking in more, He would put what He already knew into practice and share it with others.
I sat with that conversation for days and weeks.
Until I understood that personal growth isn’t only about input. It also needs output.
Learning helps You grow. So does creating, practicing, contributing, and sharing what You already know.
Both are equally important.
My coach took it even further: If something You have learned could help another person, why keep Them waiting? Keeping it all to Yourself isn’t fair.
Very true…
So stop consuming and start creating.
Draw something. Make music. Cook something new. Write an article. Make a birthday present by hand. Write someone a letter. Share something You’ve learned.
It doesn’t have to be something big or long-term.
Simply create something that makes You or another person smile.
Notice how fulfilling it feels to stop only consuming Life and start contributing something of Your own.
