The Cost of Choosing Yourself

I’ve been in jobs and relationships that gave me comfort, yet not the fulfillment or space I needed to pursue my dreams.
From the outside, they looked great. That’s what made the decisions so difficult.
Staying would have been easier. I could have enjoyed the comfort and stopped questioning whether it was truly the Life I wanted.
Yet every day I tolerated what didn’t feel aligned with my core values and beliefs, I pushed aside another small piece of myself.
This applies not only to Your relationship or job, but also to Your environment, a friendship, or any other Life situation that no longer feels fulfilling.
One question has helped me look at these situations differently:
If the next five years continued exactly like this, how would I feel?
If Your answer isn’t happiness, peace, fulfillment, or excitement, ask Yourself what You can change.
Maybe You need to work on Yourself. Maybe You and Your partner need to work on the relationship together. Maybe Your job needs a different direction. Or maybe You already know that it’s time to leave.
And leaving has a price: uncertainty.
It may cost You a relationship, a job, financial security, other people’s approval, comfort, and even nights where You lie awake wondering how Life would have turned out if You had made a different decision.
Uncertainty can feel terrifying. I believe that’s one of the main reasons we stay where we are.
The fear of uncertainty becomes greater than the pain of being unsatisfied.
Today, I’d rather be uncertain about my future than choose a Life I know I don’t want.
This surely isn’t easy. Yet I no longer accept living a Life where I abandon myself.
The price of an authentic Life is uncertainty.
The price of an unaligned Life is Yourself.
We all pay a price.
What has helped me through this is building courage and trusting the flow of Life. Trusting that whatever happens next, I’m going to be okay.
So will You.
Happiness Is Your Decision ☀️
