The Power of Showing Up for Yourself

Woman looking at Herself in the mirror, representing the power of showing up for Yourself and becoming someone You can rely on.

After moving from my home country Germany to the States in 2023, I hoped that something would happen to finally make Life easier.

A well-paid job that would allow me to pay off my debts without constantly worrying about money. A partner who would meet my needs and take away the feeling of loneliness. A mentor who would guide me through my business journey and tell me which decisions were correct.

Wanting support is completely fine. There are many people who want to help You.

Yet making Yourself dependent on others to create the safety and stability You seek puts Your Life into Their hands. It is not Their responsibility to show up for You exactly the way You want Them to.

For me, a lot of this came from perfectionism and self-doubt.

I questioned my decisions, was afraid of making the wrong ones, and at times avoided taking action altogether.

Then I started asking myself what I was actually looking for in others.

Imagine Your partner, best friend, or business mentor constantly questioning Their decisions, not keeping Their word, and hiding whenever things became difficult.

Would You consider Them reliable? Probably not.

So why would You feel safe relying on Yourself if You repeatedly do the same?

Show up for Yourself the way You want someone else to show up for You. Create the safety and stability You seek in others. And start small!

  • Go to the gym with the goal of walking on the treadmill for ten minutes, or simply enjoy the sauna. I started with ten minutes in the massage chair. Now I actually enjoy a spontaneous workout.

  • Show up to something You love, even when Your mind tells You that You don’t deserve it because You didn’t have a successful day. In my case, I started seeing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as regulation rather than a reward.

  • Show up for work even when it’s challenging. Especially when working fully commission-based, it can feel hopeless and scary. Yet I still showed up on tough days.

  • Take an hour, or even an entire day, for Yourself and do something You would love to do with Your best friend. Little hint: You ARE Your best friend for Life. Literally.

  • Pay Your bills on time. Eat food that supports You. Get enough sleep. Keep the small promises You make to Yourself.

Self-reliance isn’t built by telling Yourself that You can handle everything. It’s built through evidence. By doing.

Every time You keep a promise to Yourself, You create another piece of evidence that says:

I can trust myself.

I take care of myself.

I show up.

You can still have people beside You. You can ask for help, receive support, and have someone hold You when Life gets difficult.

The difference is that You are no longer waiting for someone or something else to make Your Life feel safe.

Become someone You can rely on at any time.

Happiness Is Your Decision ☀️
